2. What We Collect and Why
2.1 Server logs
When you access this site, the hosting provider automatically processes data your browser transmits, including IP address, date and time, requested URL, HTTP status, referrer, and user-agent string. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. Retention: 30 days, then deleted.
2.2 Newsletter subscription
The website does not offer user accounts or sign-ups. The only personal data we actively collect is the email address you provide when subscribing to the blog newsletter, together with a confirmation/unsubscribe token. Subscription uses a double opt-in: we send a confirmation link to the address you provide before any newsletter is delivered. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR — consent. Retention: until you unsubscribe; the unsubscribe link is included in every email.
2.3 Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies (CSRF, theme preference). No tracking or marketing cookies are set. Legal basis: § 25 (2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) — strictly necessary for the requested service. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (analytics, advertising), they will be loaded only after your explicit consent via a banner.
3. Recipients and Processors
We share personal data with the following processors under Art. 28 GDPR:
- Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Servers operated in Germany / the EU. Purpose: provision of the website infrastructure and storage of application data. Data Processing Agreement: hetzner.com/AV/DPA_en.pdf.
4. International Transfers
Hetzner processes data within Germany / the EU, so no third-country transfer occurs there.
